How to Play Up or Down
Build rows in ascending or descending order and try to collect as many cards of the same color in those rows as possible. Smart play, good choices, and careful planning are the keys to victory in this elegant card game.
Setup
The deck contains cards numbered 1–126, adjusted based on the number of players. At the start, each player receives three cards, and six cards are revealed and placed in a ring from low to high.
Your Turn
- Place a card from your hand in the correct position within the ring.
- Take one of the surrounding cards and add it to your personal display.
- Build up to three rows. When you add the second card to a row, decide whether that row will go Up or Down.
- If you can’t (or don’t want to) continue a row, discard that entire row face down and start a new one with your current card.
- End your turn by drawing a card from one of the central piles.
Scoring
When all cards have been played, scoring begins. Each row scores: number of cards × number of cards in the most common color in that row. In addition, each card in your discard pile is worth 1 point. The player with the most points wins!
